I Want to Audition!!!
Auditions for 2008 are finished. Come to see our show and please audition next year!
What is the GENERAL audition?
For the general audition, prepare one musical theatre song. Bring the accompaniment
on CD or tape or bring a pianist (we'll have a keyboard).
Please complete the Information Form (right-click and hit "Save Target As") and bring
it to your general audition. Please also bring an updated picture of yourself and a
resume if you have one.
What is the DANCE audition?
At the dance audition you will be taught a short dance combination. Please complete
the DANCE Audition Form (right-click and hit "Save Target As") and bring it to your
DANCE audition.

Program Fees
If you are cast and accept the part, there is a tuition fee. (There is no cost to audition.)
The program fee includes the training and education (rehearsals) and the script. You
will be responsible for your costume.
If you would like to be part of the show but prefer not to perform on stage, you may be
able to be part of the stage crew. It is a great experience and you get to hang with the
performers. There is no tuition fee to be a crew member. Email if you are interested:
melanie@bamtheatre.com
Play an instrument?
We need a phenomenal orchestra for this year's musical. If you play an instrument and
are interested in being part of the orchestra, please email melanie@bamtheatre.com
and let us know.
FAQ's
How much is tuition? TBD
What does this tuition cover? Materials and training. Costumes will be provided by
the cast members (with guidance from the costume committees and the directors).
When are auditions? See above
When will the shows rehearse?
Little Shop will begin rehearsals May 19. Willy Wonka will begin rehearsals July 28.
What is the age group for each show?
Little Shop will be comprised of performers ages 13 and older. However, there will be a
few spots for younger actors.
For Willy Wonka, we will be casting actors up to age 14. However, we will be
auditioning actors age 13 - 16 for the roles of the parents.
How does the audition process work? You will sign up in a group with 9 other
individuals for a total time of one half hour. The audition will likely take the full half hour,
and it is necessary to stay for the full 30 minutes. You will go upstairs in the group and
each of you will sing your song. Easy! Melanie's very nice.
What do I prepare for the audition? One song from a musical theatre show (no
classical, pop, r&b, etc.). You may only get to sing a portion due to time constraints.
Also please know the Star Spangled Banner (and which note you like to start on), in
case the directors need to hear another song.
What should we do for accompaniment? Please come with a back-up track of your
song. If you can’t find one, you may sing without accompaniment. Do NOT sing along
with a CD that already has vocals on it.
What should we bring to the audition? Any picture (headshot, school photo, etc)
that is an accurate representation of what you look like. Also bring a resume if you
have one. There is also an information form that you will have to fill out. These forms
are available on the website for download. Please have the form filled out prior to your
audition.
How early should we arrive? We recommend arriving between 15-30 minutes early
for your audition. Please give yourself enough time to stay calm!
What is the process of the dance audition? Please come in comfortable clothes
that are easy to move around in (jeans and skirts are STRONGLY discouraged). Wear
dance shoes or sneakers (no bare feet or flip-flops). You will be in a group of
approximately 30-40 people. We will teach a few dance combinations, and you will have
an hour and fifteen minutes to learn and perform them for the directors. You do not
need to prepare anything (unless you are unable to make the dance audition - see
below).
What are callbacks? After we have seen everyone at their initial audition, it is usually
necessary to hear certain individuals sing songs and read lines from the show. There
will be separate callbacks for each show.
If I am not called back, does this mean I’m not cast in the show? Not at all! There
will likely be roles that we’ll not be having callbacks for. Do not fret!
When will the cast list be posted? TBD
