St. Isaac Jogues

BAMtheatre is excited to announce its continued residency performing arts program at St. Isaac Jogues school in Hinsdale! For the 23/24 school year, BAM is thrilled to expand its offerings for the SIJ community by producing both the choir program, SIJ SINGS, and the Spring Musical!

By participating in performing arts, students have the chance to nurture their creativity, build confidence, foster collaboration, and develop effective communication skills. BAM's unique approach to performing arts training focuses on creating well-rounded individuals who excel in critical thinking, empathy, and emotional intelligence, equipping them to become outstanding global citizens. We are excited to share these engaging and educational performing arts experiences with the SIJ community!

SIJ SINGS is open to all students and parishioners of SIJ, as well as other students in the community who would like to join their voices. The choir program at SIJ fuses various styles, blending traditional choir techniques with the energy of show choir, providing a well-rounded choral education that will leave your student singing and dancing with energy and delight! Each semester will culminate with a formal concert, showcasing the talents of all choirs. The choirs will also actively engage in additional workshop and performance opportunities within their school and the broader community, allowing an outstanding experience for every participant, and spreading the love and delight of music to those around us.

SIJ SINGS encompasses two choir divisions:

Elementary Voices (Grades K - 3) 
Varsity Singers (Grades 4 - 6)

*NEW UPDATE* This year, our approach to rehearsals will bring all students together on Tuesdays after school. During this time, Elementary Choir (Grades K - 3) will have their rehearsal from 3:15 to 4:00 pm, while Varsity (Grades 4 - 6) will continue rehearsing until 4:30 pm. This combined rehearsal schedule provides the perfect balance. It allows all students to come together and sing as one group, fostering unity and cohesion. Simultaneously, it offers the Varsity Singers the chance to focus on more advanced movement and choreography, vocals, and even tackle independent musical numbers that suit their age and skill level. Depending on final enrollment, some students in third grade may be asked to join the higher level group.

Students in 7th and 8th grade may participate in our choir program as Student Assistant Directors. If you're interested in taking on this role, please reach out to Melanie at melanie@bamtheatre.com to express your interest. Please note that this opportunity is by invitation only.

There will be one formal concert to end each semester of choir. Tickets for the concert will go on sale approximately one month prior. The tentative schedule for the 23/24 SIJ SINGS season, as well as information regarding registration, tuition & fees, is available in this informational packet. More information about the SIJ Musical will be available soon.
